Only three of the six parts are translated right now, but please take the time to read all of it. Oda himself is a master of his craft and One Piece is worthy of the praise Inoue gives it. Really insightful to hear how each artist goes about his work. Enjoy!

AMAZING!! Thanks for the interview link and the pictures! One Piece is one of my top 3 manga, and Vagabond's definitely right up there as well, along with Berserk, Akira, Lament Of Lamb, and a select few. Man, Oda is so good at his story-telling especially when you see instances happening today because he planted the idea years ago.
 
A very cool interview. Made me laugh a few times. It's cool how closely connected these guys were.
 
I remember this, Eluvei posted about it in the Last Manga thread, I even contacted the author and added the Eastern Edge to the Links, but haven't kept up with the translations since. So, thanks for bringing it to our attention again, Uriel, and it's nice to have a thread consolidating it too.

It seems to be the only place with all the good info, so it'd be fitting to have a thread to discuss random stuff like Inoue kicking some ass at the dojo. :serpico:

One nice thing about this interview series is it reaffirms a lot of the things we had guessed about Inoue's work just by reading it, that he basically goes with the flow and despite whatever goals he may have, he goes off on "tangents," in his own words. I think in general Inoue will be fine once he finishes with Vagabond and moves on to a new project. In the meantime, I'm actually encouraged by deep his connection to it and even his suffering over it. I think that's what gives it the potential to continue being exceptional and to to even deeper places. This interview also reaffirmed something I wrote about him and Vagabond before...

That conflict is addressed yet again in a revelation at the end of volume 32, for Musashi, and perhaps for Inoue as well. Maybe it's not that he's not having fun, but he's had more fun than he wants to admit. :void:
