The Big Berserk Exhibition

I don’t think it would be crazy to host the full exhibition in New York City. There are thousands of US fans who would travel there. I hope they know that it’s feasible, or that DH is doing its best to court them on the idea.

Starting today, a number of items sold at the exhibition are available to purchase online, through the website of the mall where the pop-up store is located. It will close on November 19. It's likely all but impossible to use that store for people living outside of Japan without using a broker, but still, worth mentioning.

The Artwork of Berserk book is indeed available there for 3850 yen, about $25. However as Aaz noted, there is no international shipping. So this probably isn’t what was meant by the previous announcement that certain items would be available for online purchase.

Quite a bummer that they’ve held international fans out of the loop for so long. It’s been 2 years now.

Yet more pop-up stores will follow, this time in Gifu and then Isesaki. First stop will be in MALera Gifu from February 23 to March 3, and then in SMARK Isesaki from March 23 to March 31.

It looks like they're trying to hit a lot of smaller cities now. Makes me wonder why they're only doing pop-up stores and not an online shop, since they're not exhibiting anything, but what do I know.

Just a guess, but maybe they aren't set up to do shipping at scale, and partnering with a third-party to fulfill orders would cut into their profit margin. I agree though, if they opened these to international markets, they'd be selling out their whole stock. Seems like something a more savvy business person would seize on, to me... I know what Magnifico would do.

The next pop-up store will be in Osaka, in the Umeda district. It'll be located on the 13th floor of the Daimaru Umeda department store, and will be open from April 10 to April 29, and from 10:00 to 20:00.

I went to the Gifu Exhibition today.
It was kind of a letdown honestly, they had nothing but merch, so I coped with not seeing any props by buying (almost) everything I wanted! :guts:
(as the video is too large, here's one of the few pics I took:slan:)

Yeah, it's not the actual exhibition at all, really just a pop-up store to sell merchandise. If they actually hold the exhibition again, I really recommend you to go. The statues and dioramas are only decoration, it's Miura's artwork that's worth seeing.

You have got to be kidding me, I'm exactly leaving Osaka at the 9th or 10th of April :judo:

Well, at least I'm not missing something crucial judging by the comments.

Next pop-up store will be in Takaoka (Toyama Prefecture).

It will take place from May 2nd (Thursday) to May 8th (Wednesday), and will be situated in Aeon Mall Takaoka, East Building, 1st floor Central Court. Opening hours are 11:00 to 17:00 for week days, 10:00 - 17:00 for weekends.

Well, unlike what I thought, there won't be one last real exhibition in Tokyo. The official Twitter account just announced that a pop-up store in Nagoya would be "the final domestic exhibition" (despite it not being an exhibition in any real sense of the term). Feels like a missed opportunity to me...

It will take place in the Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store, on the 7th floor of the main building, from August 14 to August 26, with opening hours between 10:00 and 19:00.

The question is now whether they will be bringing the exhibition to foreign countries. If so, I would imagine that South Korea and Taiwan would be the most likely first choices, if only for convenience's sake. But a bigger question is whether they would actually do a real, full exhibition of Miura's artwork and not just a pop-up store to sell merchandise. Of course, still no word on selling the merchandise online, because that would be too smart and convenient for fans.

Damn... But they likely have the numbers to back up such a decision. Perhaps after 2 years they've determined there's no more profit to be made in Japan off Berserk fans for this. The big failure for them is not marketing this as an international event all along. They completely failed to realize the overseas potential for Berserk fans.

For those who were curious about the Big Berserk Exhibition, please check out the podcasts we recorded after visiting it ourselves back in 2023. You can find those in the main podcast feed in Feb 2023. It was incredible!

 Still, closing down the event domestically could also mean that they're ready to begin selling these materials overseas.

The exhibition will have its first international showing in Korea. Its first location (of several in the country, it seems) will be Oh Museum, situated in AK Plaza Hongdae 4F, 188 Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It will last from October 23rd to January 5th.

Also: Oct 23-Jan 5. That’s a loooong stretch.

Indeed, among the longest so far. It's noteworthy that it'll be situated in a very popular, very crowded neighborhood near Hongik University, which is considered the best College of Fine Arts in South Korea. Should guarantee some serious attendance.

Wondering if they're considering some dates in the EU zone, sooner or later. My gut feeling tells me that's extremely unlikely...

Korea was always going to be the first international destination if they were going to do any. It just makes sense as far as geographical proximity and popularity of Berserk goes. Next might be a short stint in Taipei, but they could just as well skip it. After that, I think they'll look at the main Western markets.

For those, I believe the main challenge is logistical in nature. Sending the exhibits over by plane might be costly, and then they'd need to either blindly entrust them to a local establishment or keep someone there full time. So not impossible, but I'd understand if they decided against it. (Another concern of mine is that some assholes might try to steal the artwork, but that's a different matter.)

If they decide to do a real world tour, Europe and the USA are the obvious candidates. France, Italy, Germany and the UK would be my guesses for the first, and NYC then LA for the second (at least for starters).
