It's more than a cool free game: in addition you also get free digital copies of the 124 page manual, the 200 page Fallout Bible, a bunch of artwork, wallpapers, avatars, and the freakin' soundtrack!
Forget all that though, everybody should download this regardless. Fallout is one of the greatest games ever made by any measure that matters or one can think of, from pure gameplay fun to the "games as art" debate. It's customizable open world gameplay makes the customization and "freedom of choice" in Mass Effect look like a story driven rail shooter, and Fallout 3 like the baby's toy on training wheels it is. Forget multiple character/story choices that amount to A, B, or C (which all equal D) and embrace "do whatever the fuck you want." Win the game with a smooth talker that almost never has to draw they're gun on someone or create a musclebound mute mongoloid and kill literally every man, woman, and child (yup) in the game world before calling it a playthrough (or just be a total dick). Almost nothing is sacred, so just because an NPC is in your squad doesn't mean you can't shoot them... or their entire village, including crucial plot characters (it's simple, if you kill them, they aren't important to the plot anymore, like life =). That'd be a shame though, because the plot and world is one of the game's best features on top of this, but God I wish more games were like this. This game, and the less balanced but massively immersive Fallout 2, make me a little disappointed in every game that's come out since.
